{"id":15792,"date":"2022-03-25T10:00:40","date_gmt":"2022-03-25T08:00:40","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/acebrongroup.com\/asime-annual-report-2021\/"},"modified":"2022-08-26T13:01:11","modified_gmt":"2022-08-26T11:01:11","slug":"metal-sector-annual-report-2021-asime","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/acebrongroup.com\/en\/metal-sector-annual-report-2021-asime\/","title":{"rendered":"Metal Sector Annual Report 2021"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>[vc_column][\/vc_column][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]<a href=\"https:\/\/asime.es\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>ASIME <\/strong><\/a>has just published the <strong>Annual Report on the Metallurgy Sector<\/strong>, which shows and compares data from the same period in 2020 to draw conclusions and learn about the current state of the industry at both regional and national level.<\/p>\n<p>The first data indicate that the sector experienced a <strong>5% growth<\/strong> in turnover, with a figure of almost<strong> 13 million euros<\/strong>.[\/vc_column_text][vc_empty_space height=&#8221;30px&#8221;][vc_column_text]<\/p>\n<h3><b>Employment<\/b><\/h3>\n<p>The data collected in the report states that:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Spain<\/strong>: In 2021, <strong>employment<\/strong> <strong>increased by 0.75%<\/strong> compared to 2020.<\/li>\n<li>At the regional level, in <strong>Galicia<\/strong>, in 2021 <strong>employment<\/strong> suffered a <strong>decrease of 0.5%<\/strong> (compared to 2020), resulting in a total of 290 jobs.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>In Galicia, the greatest metal activity is concentrated in <strong>A Coru\u00f1a<\/strong> and<strong> Pontevedra<\/strong>, accounting for <strong>41.42% of industrial employment<\/strong> in this Community.[\/vc_column_text][vc_empty_space height=&#8221;30px&#8221;][vc_column_text]<\/p>\n<h3><b>Foreign trade<\/b><\/h3>\n<p>Catalu\u00f1a led the ranking in exports and Madrid in imports, while <strong>Galicia climbed one place in exports, occupying 4th place and 5th place in imports in the metal sector.<\/strong>[\/vc_column_text][vc_empty_space height=&#8221;30px&#8221;][vc_column_text]<\/p>\n<h3><b>Exports<\/b><\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>The <strong>metal sector<\/strong> will account for <strong>41.8%<\/strong> of total Galician exports in 2021.<\/li>\n<li><strong>66.8%<\/strong> of these exports correspond to the <strong>manufacture of motor vehicles<\/strong> and <strong>5.2% to the naval<\/strong> sector, which is growing notably.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Pontevedra<\/strong> is the Galician province where <strong>77%<\/strong> of the sector&#8217;s exports were concentrated, with a value of <strong>8,123 million euros.<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>[\/vc_column_text][vc_empty_space height=&#8221;30px&#8221;][vc_single_image image=&#8221;15778&#8243; img_size=&#8221;full&#8221;][vc_empty_space height=&#8221;30px&#8221;][vc_column_text]<\/p>\n<h3><b>Imports<\/b><\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>44.8%<\/strong> of total Galician imports in 2021 correspond to the <strong>metal sector.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>61.9%<\/strong> of these imports correspond to the <strong>manufacture of motor vehicles.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Pontevedra<\/strong> is the Galician province where <strong>81.3%<\/strong> of the sector&#8217;s imports were concentrated, to the value of <strong>7,340 million euros.<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>[\/vc_column_text][vc_empty_space height=&#8221;30px&#8221;][vc_column_text]<\/p>\n<h3><strong>Naval, maritime and <a href=\"https:\/\/acebrongroup.com\/en\/industry\/offshore-wind-power\/\">marine energies\u00a0<\/a><\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>The<strong> metal sector<\/strong> reached a total of<strong> 8,037 jobs<\/strong>, a slight decrease of 1% compared to 2020.<\/p>\n<p><strong>In terms of turnover, 801 million euros were invoiced<\/strong>, which is 3% more than the previous year. Likewise, the Galician shipyards have experienced a <strong>133% growth in new contracts<\/strong> and a 33% increase in order book.<\/p>\n<p>Shipbuilding exports in Galicia increased by 66.8%, reaching 553 million in 2021. In Spain there was also an increase in exports, in this case of 76.5%, with 1,245 million.[\/vc_column_text][vc_empty_space height=&#8221;30px&#8221;][vc_single_image image=&#8221;15780&#8243; img_size=&#8221;full&#8221;][vc_empty_space height=&#8221;30px&#8221;][vc_column_text]<\/p>\n<h3><strong>Metal constructions and structures<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p><strong>Metal constructions and structures<\/strong> recorded a 0.5% increase in employment and a 5% increase in turnover.[\/vc_column_text][vc_empty_space height=&#8221;30px&#8221;][vc_column_text]<\/p>\n<h3><b>Challenges<\/b><\/h3>\n<p>Against this background, Enrique Mall\u00f3n, Secretary General of Asime, highlighted some key points:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>&#8220;This is a critical moment, probably one of the most difficult times in recent decades in the management of a company. The sector has already been suffering historic increases in the prices of raw materials and supplies, which in cases such as aluminium have risen by 80%, while gas is 10 times more expensive than it was a year ago.\u00a0 This dramatic situation is now compounded by the consequences of the Russian invasion of Ukraine and the necessary economic sanctions imposed to punish this unjustified massacre of the Ukrainian people. If this inflationary context of supply crisis, coupled with political instability, is prolonged over time, the economic recovery risks being delayed once again\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt is time for all institutions, national and European, to take courageous decisions in terms of regulations, sanctions and energy taxation in order to tackle this crisis that we must all tackle together. We must rely on European funds and ensure that they reach SMEs so that industry can emerge stronger and get back on the path to growth as soon as possible\u201d.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>ASIME highlights the challenges posed by the mobility of the future, digitalisation and the energy transition.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u201cIt is time for all institutions, national and European, to take courageous decisions in terms of regulations, sanctions and energy taxation in order to tackle this crisis that we must all tackle together.
