Acebron Group GOinterHUB 2021

Acebron joins GOinterHUB (Galician Offshore International Hub).

This meeting, on the offshore industry, was organized by Asime, Navantia, Windar and Xunta de Galicia, the celebration took place on November 30 and December 1. This appointment of the offshore wind sector positions the City of Ferrol not only as one of the main points of knowledge but also of dissemination within this industry. We are therefore talking about a meeting at international level, which focused on the subject of the future of off-shore wind.

As announced by Enrique Mallón (general secretary of Asime) there were 300 professionals from the sector who intervened both in person and online and the objective was to “value the logistics capabilities of the northwest and business cooperation”. Therefore, all of them had as objective to spread the potential of the offshore wind market, in continuous growth, and the benefits that this supposes for the Galician metallurgical industry.

Development of the conference

To open the meeting, on the 30th a visit was made to the shipyard of Navantia Fene and then the meeting of the Atlantic Wind Supercluster took place. Another one of the conferences was the Mates project, entitled Blue Skills and Ocean Literacy.

In relation to december 1st, several events took place, starting with the inauguration of the CIS in A Cabana, followed by more than 20 national and international presentations. Each one of them allowed us to delve deeper into the possibilities of the offshore wind sector and shed light on how to boost this booming industry.

Presentations

Among the speakers we can mention Giles Dickson, advisor to the European WindEurope employers’ association, who addressed the potential for the European industry. Javier García, Director of International Business at Iberdrola Renovables Internacional, who spokes about the situation of the offshore wind sector in Spain. These two presentations were followed by those of Antonio Sánchez, Business Development and Commercial Division of Navantia and Nacho Rodríguez Alegre, Commercial Director of Windar Renovables, who offered us the vision of leading companies in our country in the technical development of offshore projects. 

The day continued with Manuel Fernández, Project Manager BU-Iberia South Europe, Ocean Winds, who addressed the importance of offshore wind energy in the framework of a just transition. Then, companies such as Nervión Naval Offshore of the Amper Group, Greenalia, Acebron Group and Ferri Systems discussed about local business cooperation for the development of wind farms.

On the other hand, the Ports of Ferrol and A Coruña discussed the regulatory approach and infrastructure capacities together with Paula Uría (General Director of Energy Planning and Natural Resources of the Xunta de Galicia) and Javier Domínguez (Director of Industry and Energy of the Government Delegation in Galicia).

Finally, Antonio López-Nicolás, from the European Commission, spoke about how offshore wind energy fits into the European green pact. Finally, Tomás Romagosa (Technical Director of AEE) concluded with a vision for the immediate future of Spain.

The 5th edition of the GOinterHUB congress held in Ferrol brought together entrepreneurs, technicians and representatives of the offshore wind industry to highlight the capabilities of northern Spain and the importance of business cooperation.
